Hue To DMZ Full Day Trip (Vinh Moc Tunnels and Khe Sanh Combat Base).
Highlight
- See an airfield and combat base used during the Vietnam War
- Visit to amazing historical sites in the central Vietnam including Quang Tri Citadel, Khe Sanh Combat Base and Vinh Moc Tunnels where we called DMZ - Demilitarized Zone
Quang Tri which was the province capital of that area, is located in the Central Region of Vietnam, near the crossways between North and South Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. The province preserves many remains from the anti-American resistance war such as the ancient citadel of Quang Tri, Khe Sanh Combat Base, Truong Son National Cemetery, Truong Son trail, Vinh Moc Tunnels, Hien Luong Bridge and Ben Hai River.
Vietnam DMZ mean Demilitarized Zone
ITINERATY:
- 7:00-7:30am Our Tour Guide and Driver will come to your hotel and pick you up .
- After that we go to Khe Sanh Combat Base via Highway 9 - runs across Vietnam roughly in line with the 17th Parallel. The route includes two segments. The segment called National Route 9A begins at Đông Hà and ends at Lao Bảo on the Vietnam-Laos border and is entirely within Quảng Trị Province.
- On the way we will stop Dakrong Bridge - to be the beginning of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Then heading to Khe Sanh Combat Base was never overrun, but saw the bloodiest battle of the war. About 500 Americans, 10,000 North Vietnamese troops and uncounted civilian bystanders died around this remote highland base. It’s eerily peaceful today, but in 1968 the hillsides trembled with the impact of 1000kg bombs, white phosphorus shells, napalm, mortars and endless artillery rounds, as desperate American forces sought to repel the NVA.
- We will back to Dong Ha city for lunch at local restaurant - enjoy Vietnamese local food .
- After lunch we will go to Vinh Moc Tunnels- via Hien Luong Bridge and Ben Hai River
- The place of Hien Luong – Ben Hai has witnessed the pain of partitioning the two regions and historical events associated with the struggle for national liberation and reunification of our troops and people during the anti- Risk. After the signing of the Geneva Agreement (July 20, 1954), our country was temporarily divided into North and South, taking the 17th parallel (Ben Hai River) as the boundary, July 1956 conducted a general reunification of the country. But with the events caused by the destruction of hostile forces, it took us 21 years (1975), with soldiers’ bloodshed, the people have fallen to achieve independence and unification.
- From the Hien Luong Bridge we travel another 30-minutes North and arrive at the
- Vinh Moc Tunnel complex. The tunnels were dug and used as shelters by local village families during the American Vietnam War to escape all the continious bombings.
- Around 4:00pm we will back your hotel in Hue city
