Vietnam DMZ Half Day Trip (Khe Sanh Combat Base)

ITINERARY: 

• 7:30am: Our Tour guide and driver will pick you up from Hue Hotel
• After 45min we will stop in Long Hung Church is located on National Highway 1A, near White Bridge, in Long Hung village, Hai Phu commune, Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province. 
• This place was built to worship Christianity in Hung Long village, with a total area of ​​1220m2, including a bell tower in front, a cross mounted on top, and a large chapel and corridor. Since the fight to protect Quang Tri Citadel, the church has been destroyed by bombs and bullets.
• Long Hung Church in Quang Tri is a war relic marking the heroic battle of our army and people. 
• And then we go a head for next stop:
• The Rockpile Vietnam – also known as Rockpile Base or Elliot Combat Base. During the Vietnam War, it was a substantial US base in the rocky mountains north of Route 9 and south of the Demilitarized Zone – Vietnam DMZ. The US used the Rock.Pile hill as a watchtower to observe the activities of the Vietnam People’s Army in the demilitarized zone in Quang Tri from 1966 to 1968.
• 10:00am : Arrive Khe Sanh Combat Base was never overrun, but saw the bloodiest battle of the war. 
• About 500 Americans, 10,000 North Vietnamese troops and uncounted civilian bystanders died around this remote highland base. 
• It’s eerily peaceful today, but in 1968 the hillsides trembled with the impact of 1000kg bombs, white phosphorus shells, napalm, mortars and endless artillery rounds, as desperate American forces sought to repel the NVA.
• On the way back to Hue Hotel we will stop at Local restaurant for Lunch time
